Kate Mulvany

A BA graduate from Curtin University and an actress who has played leads with major Australian theatre companies in addition to TV and film work, Kate's had a number of plays produced: Father O Friendly, Derek Drives A Datsun, Vaseline Lollies, Blood and Bone (Winner of Naked Theatre Co's "Write Now"! Award), Naked Ambition and Storytime. She wrote the book and lyrics for Naked Theatre Company Embalmer! The Musical. Her play The Danger Age won the 2004 Phillip Parsons Award and was produced at La Boite Theatre, and again was produced by Deck Chair Theatre Company in 2009. Kate's play The Seed, a Company B commission, in which she starred, played B Sharp then transferred to upstairs Belvoir in 2008, continuing on for a National tour. The Seed was also nominated for 2007 Sydney Theatre Award for Best New Australian Work. Her most recent play The Web premiered at Black Swan Theatre Company and Hothouse Theatre Company in 2009. This year she is a Griffin Theatre Studio Resident.

She is also currently writing the low budget feature Fishbowl for Resolution Independent and developing a feature screenplay of The Seed.
