As the name of the program implies, Beta Testing is an opportunity to work on and fine-tune a script in an advanced stage of development in order to move it close to production readiness. It is a program that provides a playwright with rigorous dramaturgy before receiving up to a week of workshopping on the floor with professional artists, and concluding with a new draft.
Beta Testing is a program where its structure and schedule is developed along with the successful applicant to best address the needs of the project in order to maximise outcomes. As part of the process, the workshop will conclude with a reading allowing participants to showcase their work to potential producers. Whether this is a public or closed reading will be determined by a number of factors.
Beta Testing is a natural progression for a work uncovered and developed through Playlab's Alpha Processing and/or Incubator programs, but is also open to the wider playwriting community.
Applications for Beta Testing 2017 will open in May.
