Kate has worked as a theatre director in Brisbane, Melbourne, London and Bristol. A graduate of NIDA’s directing course, Kate was Literary and Associate Director at the Gate Theatre in London and went on to work for the Young Vic and English Touring Theatre. Directing credits include: Mariana Pineda, Gate Theatre, London; Simply Heavenly Young Vic, London; The Cherry Orchard, fortyfive downstairs, Melbourne and Southwark Playhouse, London; A Doll’s House, Alma Theatre, Bristol and Billy Liar, RWCMD, Cardiff. She is the Artistic Director of Now Look Here and has directed Splendour, A Slight Ache and The Seagull for the company. As Literary Director at the Gate Theatre, Kate initiated the theatre’s Translation Award and worked as dramaturg on several new works, including Life with an Idiot and The Country of the Blind. She ran Gateink, the theatre’s young playwrights’ group and taught scriptwriting at Kensington and Chelsea College. In 2018 she wrote and directed The Sound of a Finished Kiss, a new Australian musical featuring the songs of iconic Brisbane band The Go-Betweens.

David Stewart
David Stewart is a Brisbane based writer and performer. He is the co-creator of the electro-musical comedy trio The Architects of Sound. The band’s latest work was commissioned by Brisbane Festival in 2016 and has since travelled to Fringe World, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Melbourne Fringe Festival. His recent playwriting credits include Get Gone (as part of Chrysalis ATYP 2018), Non-Vegan Hoagies and Other Signs of the Impending Apocalypse (ATYP Fresh Ink National Studio 2016), An Intimate Evening with the Architects of Sound (Wonderland, Melbourne Fringe Festival; 2015, Woodford Folk Festival 2014), Slug (Rock Surfers Theatre Company 2014) and The Art of Conversation (Short + Sweet BEST COMEDY winner 2013). David is also a recent graduate of the NIDA Writing for Performance Masters in 2015.

Maddie Nixon
Maddie is a Brisbane based writer, dramaturg, stage manager and youth arts facilitator.  Maddie is an Assistant Creative at La Boite Theatre Company for 2018, working on Lysa and the Freeborn Dames. Maddie is a board member for Ausdance Queensland.
Maddie’s credits include, as Playwright: Cooladdi (La Boite Theatre Company, Queensland Theatre and ATYP), Food Fight (ATYP), The Parable People (FAST). As Contributing Writer: The Children’s Monologues (Digi Youth Arts). As Co-Director: Jane + Kel Go To Hell (Sharehouse Theatre Company). As Dramaturg: England (Matt Seery, Nathan Booth and Metro Arts). As Production Manager: Supercell Festival of Contemporary Dance, Cargo Club (Metro Arts and Centre for Australasian Theatre). As Stage Manager: The Dead Devils of Cockle Creek (Playlab, La Boite Theatre Company), Blue Bones (Playlab), The 7 Stages of Grieving (Grin + Tonic, Queensland Theatre), The Voice in The Walls (Imaginary Theatre). As Assistant Stage Manager: Medea (La Boite Theatre Company), Black Diggers (Secondment - Queensland Theatre).

Steve Pirie is a playwright, theatre maker, and youth arts practitioner currently based in Brisbane. A graduate of the University of Southern Queensland, he is also the co-Artistic Director of Mixtape Theatre Collective, a regional independent company based in Toowoomba. His first play, Escape From the Breakup Forest, has since been published by Playlab following state wide seasons, and in 2014, Steve’s work 3 O’Clock, Flagpole was selected for development as part of the Lab Rats initiative, also with Playlab.  

In 2017, Steve was a participant in the Independents@Queensland Theatre program to develop his work Return to the Dirt, which was performed as a staged reading at La Boite’s  HWY Festival in 2018.  His most recent work, Jane and Kel Go to Hell was produced at Metro Arts with Share House Theatre Company in 2018.
Steve’s production credits include various creative positions with Imaginary Theatre, Brisbane Powerhouse, Artsworx, Queensland Theatre Company and La Boîte Theatre Company, The Young Company in Cairns, Vena Cava Productions and the Festival of Australian Student Theatre.
